Is that a genuine Dangel?

Yep. Here's the skinny on it.
Info:
and
"Peugeot 504 modified commercially by Dangel. Spotted in Madagascar in 2004, in an area near government buildings where photography is prohibited. Presidential Palace is on the other side of this alley. President didn't actually live there, as he was an independently wealthy man and had a compund at the edge of town. Made his fortune in yoghurt and then other dairy products, sold in every food store here."
"The first 4 wd on Peugeot 504 base were made by Dangel for French army and Gendarmerie. Some of them are still in service in Reunion Island. The one pictured seems to me to be a genuine one and not a modified one."

Ever since my dad bought a 505 GTi Turbo in 1993 (I think) I've wanted a 505 Dangel with the Turbo engine..

My relationship with Peugeot is sort of a strange one. We no longer get them in the US but I remember seeing them on the roads from time to time, but I never remember seeing a new one. They always looked a little banged up. Every single one, and I am old enough to remember seeing them when you could still get them here.....

Well they actually produced a slightly lifted diesel wagon in the 80s. I have wanted to get parts from a Galandewagen that shared my mercedes w123 diesel model and try to awd it. They share the engine but I haven't investigated it. I would drive that any day though.

Heh, my parents bought a 505 estate at what must have been just about the same time. Wasn't the GTi, was bloody horrible. Tough as old boots, though.
From what I recall from the last few years of its life, you really don't need a conversion to take a 505 pretty much anywhere :)
